John Kofford's Obituary
John Kofford graced this earth on March 4, 1967, in Ogden, and sadly departed on May 5, 2024, at the age of 57. His time with us was far too short, leaving behind countless adventures yet to be realized. John was a beacon of happiness, effortlessly making friends with his warm, positive attitude, good heart, and eagerness to please. His boundless energy and zest for life were unmatched; he thrived on just four hours of sleep each night and always prioritized "FUN." John had an incredible determination to help those in need and pursue his passions with unwavering resolve.
He cherished his son, Bridger, and daughter-in-law, Lexi, with all his heart, eagerly awaiting the arrival of their soon-to-be-born son. John's excitement for his grandson was palpable as he began spoiling him even before his birth.
John served his country in the Navy. He was a fireman on aircraft carriers and fell in love with Hawaii where he was stationed. He spent the majority of his career as a maintenance engineer and loved his last job and co-workers at McKay-Dee Hospital. He often remarked, "It's the best job I’ve ever had." Tragically, he passed away while on the job, doing what he loved.
John was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos and had a passion for adrenaline-fueled adventures, indulging in various vehicles, risky maneuvers, and high speeds. He took great pride in his lifted truck, Harley, and dirt bikes. He relished trips to the dunes at Little Sahara and St. Anthony. He prized boating, especially slalom skiing and wakeboarding, which he eagerly taught to family and friends. One memorable day, he spent over an hour in the water at Pineview 100 yards offshore, wearing a life vest and holding an orange flag, patiently helping others with deep water starts.
John is survived by his beloved son Bridger (Lexi), his brothers Tom (Jen) Kofford, Jeff (Natalie) Kofford, and Scott Kofford, and his parents Kent and Susan Kofford.
A celebration of John's vibrant life will be held on June 1, 2024, at 5:00 PM, at the church building located at 590 W 2000 N (Antelope Dr), Layton.
His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
