John Paul Krestalude's Obituary
John was born in NY on February 6th, 1944, to Steve.
(1918-1975) and Anastasia (1917-1998) Krestalude.
Growing up in Endicott with sister Irene and Brother Robert he enjoyed life with relatives at every turn. Think My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Family life extended to Brooklyn Heights, NY, Baltimore, MD as well as Jacksonville, FL
He joined the air force in 1967 - 1970. He served as a helicopter crew chief, gunman and mechanic during the Vietnam War. He met his future wife Mary, in Montana while serving at Malmstrom Airforce Base. They married in 1968, and were married just shy of 55 years, they were first and foremost friends and each other’s right hand. Wife and Husband just aren't strong enough words. Traveling to many places together. Having a lot of adventures, and testing luck at casinos were part of their enjoyment before and after retirement. They have one child, a daughter, Jennifer. To her he was more than a dad. He was a man to whom she emulated. Through the laughs, arguments and everything in-between they became friends as well. John admired her courage in life as well as her strong will. He has one grandchild, Mitchell. Speaking very highly and with pride at the young man he has become.
Aside from those mentioned above John leaves behind a god daughter, 7 nephews, and 2 nieces.
While we all die one day, many never know how or when. For John it was different. John died at home from esophageal and lymph node cancer after a confirmed diagnosis 6 days earlier. At the time of his death nothing was left unsaid. A true gift to him and his family.
He will be missed in many ways. Ways that are personal to those whose life he touched. Grief will be an individual and personal emotions to loved ones left behind as will thoughts celebrating the wonderful man and life that was John Paul Krestalude.
