John Robert Platt's Obituary
John Robert Platt, Bob our beloved father, passed away on 9 August 2022. Bob was born 17 May 1945 in Ogden Utah the third child of Roland and Dorothy Platt.
In his youth he worked as a hod carrier, helping his father with many building projects. He and his brothers worked hard, had fun and sometimes found creative ways to entertain themselves during their long work days. These youthful experiences helped Bob develop a strong work ethic that would serve him throughout his life.
Bob served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from 1965 to 1967. He married his first wife Irene in 1967. They had 6 children together. He married his second wife Larraine in 1989.
One of Bob’s greatest accomplishments was completing his college education. He did this while supporting his family and was able to provide a better life due to his hard work. Bob built a career with the Utah State Tax Commission as an auditor of mines and oil wells. He enjoyed traveling to rural places in Utah to assess production operations. Bob was well liked by the people he served and his coworkers. He was always willing to take extra time to help those he served navigate the details of the system.
Bob enjoyed building things; he created a brick wall around the Harriman home and later did many home improvement and woodworking projects. He was helpful to neighbors and members of his church and community.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and older sister Jacque. He is survived by his brothers Gary and Marlin, his wife Larraine, his children Shell, Rob, Shane, Jared Cherese and Brenden, step children Travis, Cindy, Lori, Shane and Heidi, and his grandchildren and great grandchild. He lived a full life and will be deeply missed.
Grave side service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday 18 August 2022 at the Crescent City Cemetery, 11105 S, State St, Sandy, UT 84070. Bob lived a life helping others; please honor him by doing a kind deed for another.
