JOHN (JACK) SCHNELLER JR.
1926 – 2018
John (Jack) Schneller Jr. passed away on July 30, 2018 to the great sorrow of his family and friends. Born August 25, 1926 in Tooele, Utah to John and Josie Schneller.
Jack served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He served on two ships, the troop transport, USS Gen. M.B. Stewart (AP140) and the Battleship USS Wisconsin BB64. The Gen Stewart was the first ship to enter the Hudson River in New York V.J. Day, August 1945;
Jack was a member of the VFW Magna, Utah. He was in the Philippine Liberation, the Asiatic-Pacific, European-African, Middle Eastern and the American area and received the Victory Medal for his service.
He was Past Master of the Christopher Diehl Lodge #19 F&AM, Magna, UT. He also was a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason, member of the El Kala Wagoneers. Dad was proud to say he was a 52-year Mason!
Jack served as Chapter Dad Order of Demolay in Magna, having received the Cross of Honor and the Guild of the Leathern Apron.
He is survived by his loving daughters and son, Jackie Rasmussen of West Valley City, Utah, Tori Curtis of Magna, Utah, and John Schneller, Lake Havasu, Arizona. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Calvin Keith Schneller.
Jack suggested a contribution be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
