John Virgil Stoddard II's Obituary
John Virgil Stoddard II, 80, died 8 June 2021, in Hooper, Utah from a ten-year battle with cancer. He was born on 25 August 1940, in Tremonton, Utah, the son of John Virgil Stoddard and Gladys Wheatley. He married Dadee Smith in 1971 (divorced), Adrene Penman on 7 February 1992 (deceased 18 January 2007 of cancer), and Valda Lloyd M’Crystal (25 February 2009).
He graduated from Weber High School in 1957 and one year at Weber State College. John was in the Civil Air Patrol while going to school. He worked as a miner from 1959 through 1963 in the states of Nevada, Montana, Utah; and, in Southern California in 1970 for another year.
John was drafted into the United States Army while living in Montello (Elko, Nevada), serving from 26 November 1963 through 25 November 1969. Attended Basic Training in Fort Ord, California and then Advanced Individual Training at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He was trained as a quarryman within the Engineering Branch. He was discharged as a Specialist Fourth Class, returning to Utah.
John continued his life in the mining field and well drilling. He drilled the water wells in the Weber and Davis County area. Hooper water is the results of his work.
He enjoyed the out-of-doors and spending time with his family. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by 13 children and 156 grandchildren, including: Tony (Kimber) Stoddard, Beth (Robert) Fitzner, John III (Sabrina) Stoddard; Brad (Cindy) Williams, Jana (Tom) Bishoff, Scott Williams, Julee (Royce) Savage, Cary (Lisa) Williams, Lynn (Paula) Williams, Jeanne Taylor; and his wife, Valda; children, Shann (Jack) Albretsen, Hooper UT; Cecily (Frans) Meyer, Syracuse, UT; Rene’ (Robert) Chorley, Truro, Cornwall, England. Also survived by his brother Tony Stoddard.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother George Stoddard, sister Vicki, and Adrene Penman.
John was an example to his family and lived a ‘Christ-like’ life.

Grave site services will be held, Monday, June 14, 2021, 5:30 PM at the Hooper Cemetery, Hooper, UT.
