I just barely got word of J Roberts passing. Worked with him in our mutual radio broadcasting days. He came to our apartment in his Santa persona and delighted our young children. He's just one of those guys that I'll never forget even if I didn't follow his whereabouts. Bet he's one of the best missionaries serving in the spirit world!
I just discovered that Jon, "J Robert Howe" passed away. Julia and I associated with him many years. We had fun with his DJ work on KOVO Radio. We one a trip to the BYU vs Utah football game and drove a red double decker English trolley bus all the way to the Utah stadium with cheers from the Utah fans until they learned everyone on board was wearing BYU Blue. We barely escaped with our lives as Utah fans attached the bus. It was great working with Jon in the Young Men's in the Provo 8th Ward. We have lots of memories with he and Rosie. We were newly weds then and just starting our families. Jon was also the "true" Santa and he was magical. He always gave credit with his Santa appearances to Jesus Christ from Bethlehem. He also made many believers of young ones who were at the age when they started thinking that Santa was not real. A man of many talents! Jon is highly missed.

I served with Jon in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1968 as a missionary. I was in Rio in 1998, visiting with some members. One Sister, Dirce Curi, commented that he was the most spiritual missionary she had ever known. And, I agree...he made the best Santa Claus ever. My kids loved it when he showed up as Santa one Christmas Eve.

Forty three years have come and gone since Jon and I served together in the Army. Jovial, service oriented, and quick to provide a willing and helping hand, Jon was always there when I would call or stop by to see him and Rosie over the years. During my first month at BYU in 1973, our family of 3 lived with them in their small home in Provo. I will not be able to think of Salt Lake City without thinking of Jon being there. Captain Andy is now on the eternal Showboat, of which the Promised Valley Playhouse was just the beginning. I look forward to meeting again at the next Fort Ord Ward reunion in the eternities. All our love, prayers and condolences go out to Rosie and the kids.

I respected the talent and insight that Jon brought to every subject. He will be missed by all who knew him. I am honored to be able to call him a friend and fellow High Priest.

Jon and his entire family were friends of our family in Laramie - through the LDS church and BSA scouting program. Our father bought bikes from Jon's dad. Our condolences to the Howe family..We are so glad we knew and associated with them!
Jon will missed greatly, I'm sorry for your loss. His smile could like up a room. And he was the best Santa ever. I'm forever grateful for his friendship & many pep talks, his wisdom & faith touched my heart.
