Jose (Hemo) Todocio Martinez Jr's Obituary
Jose Todocio Martinez Jr. (Hemo), 58, passed away on November 12, 2024 after a two week battle at the Holy Cross Hospital in Layton, UT. Hemo was born in Ogden, UT on May 4, 1966. He was the second child of Ted and Frances Martinez. Hemo spent his childhood in Ogden, where he made lifelong friends and attended Ogden City Schools. He also loved to spend his time with his grandpa Martinez hanging out and playing with his uncles and cousins.
Hemo met Nichole Garcia, the love of his life, and they united in marriage. Together, they welcomed their son, Jose Martinez III, who became Hemo’s constant companion. Their shared love for cool cars, music, and the Pittsburgh Steelers forged an unbreakable bond between them. Hemo and his family made their home in Sunset Utah. He worked at Utility Trailer for 30+ years and retired in 2023 to stay home and take care of himself and his family.
Hemo was a beloved son, a fun-loving brother, a playful uncle, and a devoted husband and father. His family will forever cherish his teasing nature, infectious laugh, and generous spirit. He held a special place in the hearts of his aunts, uncles, and cousins. Hemo is survived by his wife, Nicole; his son, Jose III; his mother, Frances; and his siblings: Veronica (Mario) Moreno, Benjamin Martinez, Sebedeyo (Destiney) Martinez, and Vanessa (R.W.) Montague. He also leaves behind his godsons, many other nephews and nieces, and his in-laws, including his father-in-law Lorenzo, sisters-in-law Chantelle and Lori, and his brother-in-law Fernando Garcia.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Todocio Martinez, and his mother-in-law, Lucy Garcia. Hemo’s unwavering dedication to family and friends, along with his vibrant personality, will serve as an inspiration for many of us. While his warmth and humor will be greatly missed, his spirit will forever live on in the cherished memories we hold and the lives he touched. Hemo preferred a simple farewell, so instead of a traditional funeral, a celebration of his life will be held in his honor at a later time in 2025.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out, visited, sent food, provided financial support, offered treats, and shared your love with us. A special thank you to all of our prayer warriors. Hemo always held a deep faith in Jesus and continued to read his Bible, finding strength in His Word. As it says in Romans 8:18: “Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.”
