Joseph Raymond Dallimore's Obituary
Our very cool special-needs son, brother, uncle, grandson Joseph left this Earth on Friday, December 29th, 2023 at about 8:30pm. He was cognizant and aware only minutes before his passing, and was not experiencing pain.
Professionals were not able to pinpoint exactly what special-needs syndrome Joseph had, but picture a seven-year-old boy in an adult body. He died at 31 years old and had a wonderful life with his large family.
Joseph loved his family and never received "special-needs treatment" from his parents or his siblings. He got "regular" love, respect and discipline, just like everyone else. This un-pampered way of living made life sweet for all of us.
Joseph was a collector! He collected coins, sticks, pieces of pipe, rocks, dot-to-dot books, DVDs and anything shiny that wasn't nailed down. But most of all, he collected bottle caps. Every lid that came off a pop bottle, milk bottle, ketchup bottle, etc., was saved. Sometimes lids would disappear from bottles that were not yet empty. His disgruntled mother would then have to dig through his 5 gallon bucket "holding tank" to retrieve them. Our storage unit has a stack of plastic bins six-and-a-half feet tall, filled with bottle caps. Now that he's gone we don't have the heart to throw them away.
Joseph "got around" and was loved by all who knew him. His unbridled personality left many with amusing anecdotes about his adventures.
Joseph is survived by his sister Lacey (39) [CJ], sister Molly (33), brother James (28), sister Grace (26), sister Sara (25), sister Katharine (22) [Rodgerick], and sister Suzanne (17). That's eight! Eight wonderful children, Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha! He is also survived by nephews Noah (14), Will (7), and Ford (1 month), and Grandparents Ray and Nancy Weidner.
Joseph was preceded in death by his paternal Grandparents Jack and VaLois Dallimore.
Joseph has a wonderful family of aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents who "get him". Joseph was a big boy, six feet tall, with a personality that was a blend of Tony Stark, Clint Eastwood and a large teddy bear. He was loved everywhere he went.
We are going to miss Joseph dearly. His passing leaves a big hole in the lives of his family and those who knew him. But we know that the earth has a purpose, and that life is part of an eternal plan.
We're looking forward to seeing Joseph again in a wonderful reunion, not so many years away. And we can't wait to meet the man, Joseph. The man who no longer has a "special-needs look" or limitations on his wonderful intellect. Until then, we have the privilege of missing him, reliving the many highlights of his dazzling life and wondering what he looks like and what his personality is like now....
