Joseph Jeffery Jones' Obituary
Joseph Jeffery Jones, known to all as “JEFF”, of Midvale, Utah passed away on October 18, 2024, at Midtown Manor, Salt Lake City, Utah due to several health issues including dementia. He was 77.
Born October 23, 1946, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Victor W. Jones and Zina “LaVelle” Oliver Jones. Graduated ini1966 from Granite High School. In High School he excelled and lettered in wrestling. He joined the U.S. Army on July 29, 1966, and served until August 8, 1969, which included one year in Vietnam.
Married Patricia Emerson in 1967, divorced in 1979, they had two sons. Married Brenda Brotnov Christian on December 4, 1992.
Whenever Jeff smiled, there was a twinkle in his eyes that he inherited from his loving Mother who was a special jewel. It made you wonder what was on his mind, or what he had been up to. LOL
He worked in several different fields, as an equipment operator in road construction and laying sewer and water lines, laborer in home construction, mason tender, and a bartender at different locations through the years, including Club 48, American Legion Post 112, American Legion Post 71 and Murray Elks Lodge.
He loved to golf, travel, gamble and socialize with his numerous friends. He and Brenda took many vacations to Mexico, typically to the Cancun/Playa del Carma area or Puerto Vallarta, they golfed weekly as weather permitted and went on many golf outings together.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda B. Jones; son Trent D. Jones, brothers and sisters: Vicky Argyle, Sharon (F. Merrill) Warnick, Kenneth Jones, Dennis (Wendy) Jones, Janet (Rodney) McCarrel, Douglas (Lori) Jones, Susan Jones; Grandsons: Dusty Jones, Dalton Jones, Dawson Jones; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his son: Shane Jones, parents: Victor Wyatt Jones and Zina “LaVelle” Jones.
We want to thank all the staff at Midtown Manor for the loving care they gave to Jeff in the short time that he was with them, and the staff at the V.A. Hospital and Clinic through the years.
There will be an internment and Military Honor Guard ceremony at Camp Williams in the Spring, 2025. Notification and date will be forthcoming. There will not be a service at this time per his request.
