My Dad was my role model and my hero. When I was younger he was one of my football coaches, he loved to watch me play, my friends all looked up to him and always went to him for advice. My Dad loved to help people, he loved being a firefighter and later helped so many people with sober living at mentor works. He was happiest when he was helping someone in need. I can’t count how many people have told me that my dad has helped them through some way in their life. All of my cousins loved to be around my dad, and he loved being around kids and always did things to make them laugh. If you heard my dad laugh, you couldn’t help but laugh too. Family was so important to my dad and I have so many memories of family reunions, Clinton days or just cousins hanging out at my house. My best memories are with my dad and I know everyone else will always remember their happy memories too. You will be my hero forever, I love you always - Dylan Joseph “Joe/Joey/Vern/Dad/Poppa” V. Petersen left this life on July 26, 2023. A shock to us all, but Joe would prefer we all remember the upside of his life, his laughter, kindness, and willingness to help anyone. Joe’s love of family and friends that he brought to all those who knew him is what we should remember him for. Joe was the favorite uncle to all the nieces and nephews because he was always a child at heart Joe was born in Mt Pleasant, Utah, on June 12, 1970, to Linda Nielson and Floyd W. Petersen. Joe spent his early years in Clinton Utah and attended Clearfield High School. Joe fulfilled his dream and became an EMS provider where his strength and willingness to help others shined at the Clinton City Fire Department. The best part of Joe's life is when he became a father to his son Dylan. Joe was always there for Dylan, no matter what. Every football game, any event, anything. Joe was Dylans hero. Dylan looked up to his dad, and so did all of his friends, Joe became like a second dad to his friends. Joe became a mentor to many people after leaving the fire department while working at Mentor Works, continually helping everyone he could. Joe is survived by his son Dylan, daughter Michele (Brady) his mother, Linda Nielson, his father, Floyd Petersen, his mom, Donna Petersen and mom, Beth Brown, as well as his siblings, Brian (Barbara), Mike (Sam), Dede (John), Kellie (James), Amy (Ken), Samantha (Zane), Branden (Teri), Jeff (Jen), Brett (Deb), Derrick (Jessica), Dustin (Nichole), and Mindy (Josh). His best friend Lisa Harris, 4 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life in honor of Joe Petersen will take place at the Clinton City Recreation, 1651 W 2300 N, Clinton, UT, building on Saturday August 5, 2023 from 2:00PM-5:00PM Please come celebrate his life with a story, song, photo, and/or memories to share. “Death takes the body, God takes the soul, our mind holds the memories, and our heart keeps the love.
