Joyce LaRee Reynolds' Obituary
Joyce LaRee Pinkston Reynolds (76) passed away in Ogden, Utah on April 4, 2022 due to natural causes. Joyce was born, raised, and lived most of her life in Longview, Washington before retiring and moving to Utah to be near her children and grandchildren. She was born on Sept. 19, 1945 to Kenneth and Melva (Miller) Pinkston. She was the second of three children.
Joyce graduated from R.A. Long High School in Longview in 1963. Following graduation, she completed beauty college and in 1965 married Michael Lee Reynolds. The couple lived in Longview and moved to Castle Rock where they lived from 1975 until 1992. The couple divorced in 1994. Mike passed away in 2017.
Joyce was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many different callings throughout her life. She had many talents, including home decorating, craft making, sewing, cooking, baking, canning and flower arranging. She was always happy to share her talents with others, long before Pinterest was even a thing.
While raising her children there were not very many evenings when the family did not sit down together to a hot, home-cooked meal. Laundry was done, clothes were ironed, shoes were polished, and beds were made. Her home was always decorated, cleaned and in order. Each morning, Mike’s lunch box was stalked full of leftovers and other things to eat throughout the day. Her children each had their own sack lunches to take to school as well, which often included her infamous bologna salad sandwiches. When it came to running her home and raising her children, there were not many details overlooked.
Joyce held different part-time jobs throughout her life, including a beautician, grocery store clerk and florist. When her children were older, she began working full time. She worked as a florist; and was later employed by and eventually retired from the Longview School District as a paraeducator. She loved her job working with children who had special needs and would share their accomplishments and progress with anyone who would listen.
She is survived by her siblings Elizabeth (Jack) Hoffman and Kenneth "Dick" (Joy) Pinkston; along with her six children, including Terry (Stacy) of North Ogden, Utah; Jeff (Char’Ree) of Greenwood, South Carolina; Erick (Tonya) of Hamlin, Texas; Michelle Barnes of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Ryan of Lubbock, Texas. Later in life, she had the opportunity to be reunited with her oldest son, Dan Stewart (Adrienne) of Bellingham, Washington. Joyce was the proud grandmother of 17 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Melva.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to her dear friend Pearl Jensen for her unconditional love and friendship, to the staff at Harrison Pointe for their compassionate care over the past several months, and to the many ward members and life-long friends who have served in different ways.
A graveside service for friends and family will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at the Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden, Utah. Flowers will be received by the cemetery on Tuesday, April 12 between 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. (526 East 2850 North; North Ogden, UT 84414).
