Joyce Barr Tripp's Obituary
At sunrise on May 5, 2015 our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother Joyce Barr Tripp passed away peacefully from natural causes. She was surrounded by her loved ones. Joyce was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 10, 1933 to Robert and Wilma Barr. In her 19th year Joyce would go on to marry Cliff Tripp and together they would raise five children in their Cottonwood Heights home: Greg Tripp (Sharon), Doug Tripp (Julie), Brad Tripp (Trishell), Wendy Mullins (Darrell), and Brian Tripp (Kalie). Her children gave her 21 grandchildren and she was known as "Grandma Grape" to 50 great-grandchildren.
Joyce worked as a Customer Service Manager for Dan's Food for over 25 years. She walked to and from work every day, rain or snow, and was always greeted there with kind "hello's" even years after retiring. Mom was an avid sports fan and especially loved her Denver Broncos, Utah Jazz, and the University of Utah football and basketball teams. She loved to spend time with her family and enjoyed camping and boating over the years. Grandma was an avid reader and especially delighted in her beloved ‘harlequin’ novels but would want it to be known by any who might read this that she “always skipped past the risqué passages”. We will miss searching store after store for her favorite Haagan Das salted caramel ice cream bars and will always think of her when we're served lime sherbet and 7up at family gatherings. Her family would especially like to thank Terri Barr for being such a dear friend and sister to mom as well as her high school "club" friends who she simply adored. We would also like to thank Harmony Home Health Care and Hospice for their loving care.
Joyce is survived by her five children, her sister Laurie Walden (Bobbie), and brother Randy Barr (Joann). She was preceded in death by her husband Cliff, her parents, and her loving brother Eddie Barr (Terri).
Funeral services will be held on 12:00, Saturday, May 9, 2015, at the Cottonwood Heights 3rd Ward House, located at 6890 South Whitmore Way (2200 east), Salt Lake City, Utah with a viewing prior to services from 10:30 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Rd.
