Joyce Hanson Wallin's Obituary
Joyce Hanson Wallin passed peacefully away on May 27, 2014, in Provo, Utah at age 76 after a graceful nine year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on June 25, 1937 to Alfred Raymond Hanson and Harriet Viola Holland, the youngest of their seven children. Joyce grew up in Shelley, Idaho, attended Ricks College, and graduated from nurses training at the LDS Hospital in Idaho Falls in 1958.
Joyce married her sweetheart David Lee Wallin in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 16, 1963. While both Idaho natives, Dave and Joyce raised their family (three girls and two boys) in California. In addition to being an amazing mom, Joyce applied her nursing skills as a hospital nurse, a brain trauma rehab nurse, and as a case manager. She taught her children to love the Lord and follow in his ways and she lived her faith and served in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including missions to New England (1960-62), Dallas Texas (1999-00) and Romania (2002-04).
She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, Linda, her parents, three brothers and one sister. She is survived by her children Cindy Wallin, Brian (Manoela) Wallin, Joel (Rebeca) Wallin, and Karen (John) Ford, her sister, Carol Heintz, her brother, Garth A. Hanson, and her beloved grandchildren: Alicia, Ke’alohilani, David, Malcolm, Austin, Henry, Joshua, and Matilda.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 11:00am at the LDS Church located at 345 E 4525 N Foothill Dr., Provo (the corner of Foothill Drive and Canyon Rd), with a viewing from 9:30-10:45am prior to the service and from 6:00-8:00pm Friday May 30, 2014 at the same location.
