Juana Villalpando Zizumbo 1921-2014
Salt Lake City, Utah- Juana Villalpando, Our beloved "Abuelita", passed away on Oct. 31, 2014 at the age of 93, due to complications from previous surgeries.
Juana was born in Jeruco, Michoacán- Mexico on Aug.2, 1921 to Fidencio and Micaela Zizumbo. She was the middle child of 3.
In 1935 Juana married her husband, Severiano Ojeda Zacarias at the tender age of 14. They had 8 Daughters; 4 surviving; Concha (Jose); Maria (Victor); Chona (Manuel); and Dolores "Lola" (Hector). Juana became a widow by the age of 30, and never remarried. She dedicated the next 63 yrs to being a hard-working single parent. She spent the last 23 years residing in Salt Lake City to be closer with her daughters.
She is survived by her 4 daughters; 12 grandchildren; Patricia, Graciala, Jose, Benny, Nancy, Jeanette, Cesar, Manuel, Karl (Jane), Alex (Melissa), Shelly (Shane), and Hector Jr. She treasured the time she had with her 14 great-grand children.
She will be remembered by many for being a fighter- she was tough, feisty and such a funny "little" lady. We find peace that she is reunited with the love of her life and suffers no more pain.
A Funeral Mass will be held in her honor Friday, November 7, 2014 11:00 a.m. at St Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 3580 W. 3650 S. West Valley City. Interment will follow the services at the Valley View Memorial Park.
