Judith "Judy" Karen Bates Yorgason's Obituary
Judith “Judy” Karen Bates Yorgason peacefully reunited with her Heavenly Parents on Mother’s Day, May 10, 2026, at the age of 84.
Judy was born February 26, 1942 to Peter Dale Bates and Irene Whitaker Chipman Bates. She grew up in Orem, Utah, and graduated from Orem High School in 1960. While working as a secretary, she met and fell in love with John LeRoy Yorgason. They married February 14, 1963, in the Logan, Utah temple and raised six children together.
Judy served faithfully throughout her life in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, including as a missionary with her husband LeRoy at the Church’s Employment Services in Riverton, Utah. She spent time as a temple worker, cultural arts director, primary president, and compassionate services leader. She loved to dance, do gymnastics, play the violin, sing, sew and quilt, and spend time at the family cabin. She raised chickens and bees, and loved canning berries and fruit.
Judy is survived by her siblings Wendell, Norman, Auburn, Linda, and Sherrie; her husband LeRoy; her children Annette, Walter (Stephanie), Amy (Troy), Marla, and Ronald; her 21 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She joyously joins her son Jeffrey, her sister Claudia, and her parents and grandparents on the other side of the veil.
