Judith Elaine Cobabe Schneider's Obituary
Judith Elaine Cobabe Schneider passed from this life July 25, 2022, in Roy, Utah at age 76.
She was the 3rd child born to George Edward and Jane Elizabeth Donahoo Cobabe on March 11, 1946, in Long Beach, California. Her siblings are George Edward Cobabe (Ogden, Utah), Jane Elizabeth Cobabe Benson (deceased) and Randall Joann Cobabe Musser (Orem, Utah).
As a child she lived in Long Beach, California, and Walteria and Hollywood Riviera in Torrance, California. She graduated from South High School in Torrance, California in 1964.
She attended college at El Camino College Alondra Park, Calif. for a short time and graduated with a B.S. with a major in Biology and minor in Physical Sciences from BYU in 1972. She then attended CSU Long Beach to receive her teaching credentials.
Judy served in the Central States Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 1967-8.
She married Nathan Jed Schneider September 20,1979 and they were the parents of 4 children, Wesley Evan (Taylorsville), Marc Edward (Wisconsin), Benjamin Joseph (Salt Lake) and Elizabeth Joy (Kaysville). Nathan and Judy were divorced in 2005. She moved to Utah with her family in 2003 and resided in Kaysville and then Ogden except for a few years she returned to California.
She taught science in the Los Angeles (California) Unified School District. She taught in the Ogden City and Davis School Districts until retiring and continued to substitute teach for several more years. She made online lesson plans and teaching aids for others and received many awards for excellence in teaching. Her online suggestions for Science Fair projects were wonderful and benefited many young students.
She was a Family Search missionary teaching others to supervise and deal with problems in indexing from Sept 2011 to May 2015.
Judy loved to read, explore tide pools, teaching science, weird pets (snakes, hissing cockroaches, chameleons, iguanas, geckos, tarantulas, butterflies, injured crow), picnics, crocheting, paper piecing, tatting, Origami, making baby quilts, beading, rocks, and the color yellow. She always had a positive happy attitude and was a stalwart and noble member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Judy found much beauty in simple things. She had a great desire to be a lifelong learner and took many classes to improve her teaching at California State University Long Beach, California State University Dominguez Hills, and Utah Valley University.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents and sister Jane. She is survived by brother George and sister Randi, her 4 children and one grandchild Avree Jayde (Vernal) and many nieces and nephews who loved her fun science ways.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 29, 2022, at 7:00 p.m., at Weber Heights Stake Center Relief Society Room, 1401 Country Hills Drive, Ogden, Utah. Family and friends are invited.
Remains will be interred in Green Hills Memorial Park, Rancho Palos Verdes, Los Angeles, California.
