Julia Diane Ellison's Obituary
Julia Diane Ellison passed away peacefully on Monday December 4, 2017. Julia was born August 3, 1961 in her front yard in Indianapolis Indiana to Clark Harvey Heilman and Carolyn Sue Goodlin. Julia’s father had mowed the lawn that day and she was affectionately referred to, at the hospital, as the “grass baby”.
Julia was a tomboy growing up and would wrestle any boy to the ground if they tried to give her any trouble. She graduated from Warren Central High School in Indianapolis in 1979. She furthered her education at Indiana University and Portland State. Her favorite subject was accounting and she worked, off and on, in that field but she was primarily a homemaker, wife, and mother.
She married Douglas Lawrance in 1981. This marriage lasted for 10 years. Julia remained close friends with Doug the remainder of her life speaking to him frequently over the phone. In 1983 Julia was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She held many “callings” in the church but her favorite area to serve the Lord was to teach in the women’s Relief Society. Her most recent service was on a committee for the Boy Scouts at her local church ward. She also loved to do genealogy and did extensive family history research.
Julia married John Ellison on August 10, 1996 in Longmont Colorado. They were later sealed in the Oregon Portland Temple. Julia always wanted brown babies and her dream came true in their adoption of twin boys from the Pacific island of Samoa in 2003.
She loved camping and would regularly head into the mountains of Utah with her family and the dogs that she adored. Cooking over an open campfire was a delight beyond imagine. Off road 4-wheeling always brought a smile to her face. She lived in Minnesota from 2007-2013. She acquired a permanent camping site and added a trailer at Golden Eagle Campground in Perham so she could be near her beloved Aunt Joan.
Julia was an avid reader and would start a new book as soon as she finished the one she was on. Reading at bedtime was one of her favorite pastimes.
Julia is survived by John Ellison, her husband of 21 years, her sister, Lora Moss of Baltimore Maryland, her step daughter, Sarah Ellison Pierce of Kearns, Utah, her two sons Jordan and Jonah Ellison of West Point, Utah, her Aunt Joan Brumbaugh of The Villages, Florida, her Uncle Jerry Goodlin of Oklahoma City, and her 2 step granddaughters Annabelle and Rian Pierce of Kearns Utah.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the LDS church, 2852 W. 300 N., West Point, Utah 84015. Visitation is at 1 and funeral at 2. Interment will follow at 3 at the West Point Cemetery 40 N. 4000 W.
