Jennette Nielson Ashby, 96, North Salt Lake, passed away the morning of December 17, 2025 at home, due to congestive heart failure and age.
She was born February 13, 1929 in Boneta, Duchesne County, Utah. Her parents were Andrew Christian and Ruth Berniece Swasey Nielson. She was a residence of North Salt Lake, Utah. She previously lived in Taylorsville, Utah for about 40 years. She moved there in 1981. Prior to that she and her husband lived in the Ogden, Utah area for more Than 20 years.
Her husband, Wayne J Ashby preceded her in death October 14, 2004. They were married January 19,1949 in the Manti Temple.
Three of their children are deceased, Ruthmary (Ron) Nordgren, J. Wayne Ashby, and David Christian Cuch Ashby.
She is survived by John Latham (Ilene) Ashby, Arlinda (Kelly) Hansen, and Kenneth Robert Ashby (Judy Bentley). She was also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister-in-law Melva Sorensen as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by two sisters and an infant brother, Arla DeMars, June Nielson Ashton and Andrew Christian Nielson.
A descendant of pioneer ancestry and a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, Jennette served in many various callings in the Church throughout her life. She served nearly two years as secretary to two mission presidents of the Minnesota Minneapolis Mission (1986-1988). She served as a Church service missionary at the Church History Library for five years. For many years she did Extraction and Indexing of records.
Her interests were centered around being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother and keeping in touch as much as possible. She enjoyed: homemaking, cooking, genealogy/family history, cake decorating, gardening, sewing, quilt making, needlepoint, embroidering, knitting, crocheting, card making and scrapbooking.
She considered her most notable accomplishments as the compiling and publishing of three books--biographies of her mother, her father, and of her husband. She also compiled six short biographies of pioneer ancestors.
While she enjoyed beautiful flowers, she felt it would be appropriate to consider donating to a humanitarian charity of your choice in her memory, in lieu of flowers.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 PM on December 29, 2025, at her Church Ward House located at 900 Eaglepoint Drive, North Salt Lake, Utah 84054.
Family will meet friends at 11:00 AM prior to the services
