Julia Erickson Streadbeck's Obituary
Julia Erickson Streadbeck passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. She was born on June 5, 1920 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Erick Edwin Erickson and Millie Workman. She attended the Jefferson Grade School, South Junior High and South High School. At the University of Utah she earned a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and went on to teach Kindergarten and 1st Grade at the Whittier School in the Salt Lake School System. On July 18, 1942 she married Arval L. Streadbeck in Stockton, California. That same year they were sealed together in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had 5 children. Julia sincerely loved little children. Her happiest hours were spent in teaching, caring for, and helping them. She was a member of the LDS Church and spent years teaching in the Primary, leading the singing, and teaching others to teach children. She and her husband took three groups of University Students to Germany, 1968, 1980, & 1983. They supervised the study programs of the students and acted as advisors to them. In Sept. 1986-March 1988 she and her husband went to Zollikofen, Switzerland where they were missionaries at the Swiss Temple. Julia loved to do temple work, compile genealogy records, assemble family picture collections, and compose interesting original historical biographies of ancestors. These have been a joy and help for everyone. Julia loved to travel with her family and friends. Many trips to Canada, Mexico, Europe and around the United States brought her happiness. Julia is survived by her husband Arval, and her five children, Larry (Norma), Steven (Carol), Carol (David) Mugleston, Brian (Wendy), and Gary (Mary Kay), by 31 grandchildren and by 65 greatgrandchildren. Also still living are her three brothers Delmon, Leland, and Elden (Joyce). Her oldest brother Ed’s wife Louise is also still living.
