Jan was my friend and neighbor in the building we both lived in before she left Alaska to be close to family. Always a smile, always a kind word, always a nice story. She had a lot of stories, and a lot of friends to share them with. And share she did. Not just her stories, but her time and energy as well. She was always off somewhere doing something for one organization or another.
A few years ago, she was able to go on an "Honors Flight" to Washington D.C. along with many other WWII veterans from Alaska. She proudly wore the jacket and hat she received on that trip. It was a tremendous honor for her to attend.
Another big deal for her was when she was honored by the Regional Hospital National organization for her volunteer work at Alaska Regional Hospital. It was such a joy for her to share the photos, as well as the video of the awards ceremony. That was literally a first-class trip for Jan. it was nice that her daughter Diana accompanied her.
I have a lot of things to remember Jan by, that she didn't want to take on her move to Utah. They are all treasures to me because I think of her each and every time I see or use them. She is missed but will never be forgotten. Many Blessings to her family and friends.
