June Joseph's Obituary
June Joseph passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025, at the age of 79. Always one to look for the silver lining and to live with grace, a grateful heart, and steadfast faith, it feels fitting that she returned to her loved ones and to her Lord and Savior on Thanksgiving Day, surrounded by profound love.
Born on March 30, 1946, to Kathleen and Fred Fountain, June was the eldest of four children and spent her early years in East Hull, England. As the first grandchild, she was adored by her extended family, who showered her with affection. An accomplished pianist in her youth, thanks to the influence of both her mother and her grandmother, June spent many cold winter evenings gathered around the fire, filling her family’s humble home with music, dancing, singing, and laughter. Songs from The Student Prince, Gilbert and Sullivan operettas, and In a Monastery Garden were among the pieces she loved to dance to and play.
While Fred was serving in the Royal Navy and June and her sister Kathleen were still young, their Mam was in the garden when she was approached by two sister missionaries. This introduction to the Restored Gospel eventually became a defining blessing in June’s life. She was allowed to be baptized at the age of fourteen, following years of learning and waiting. From that point forward, June’s life became deeply rooted in devotion to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully throughout her life in numerous callings, directed and sang in church choirs, and especially cherished every opportunity for temple service.
In 1966, June met John Joseph in Scotland. John quickly knew he wanted to spend his life with her and proposed marriage. Through prayerful consideration, June felt a confirmation that John was to be her eternal companion. After receiving permission from her father, they were married in Hull in 1967 and sealed in the London England Temple. They settled in Warwickshire, eventually making their home in the town of Nuneaton, where they began building their family. Their first child, Adam, arrived nine months later, followed by Mark, Spencer, Jared, Ruth, Rachael, Eve, Emma, Kathleen, and David. Their home overflowed with love, laughter, music, and warmth, and their children were raised with the values of faith, hard work, and compassion.
June devoted her life to caring for her family's physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. She shared her passion for music with her children, encouraging each of them to learn instruments and embrace every opportunity to perform. The Joseph home became a beloved gathering place for teenagers and friends, always warm, welcoming, and filled with the generous spirit June so naturally cultivated. She had a remarkable gift for seeing the good in everyone, never meeting a stranger and embracing each person as a friend.
Grandma June, as she was lovingly known, found her greatest joy in her grandchildren. She taught them to read, to love family history, to sing and play the piano, to knit, to garden, and to write. Most of all, she cherished the opportunity to share her deep faith in the gospel through lessons, stories, and countless hours of treasured grandma time. A lifelong writer, June leaves behind volumes of journals, poems, histories, and cherished personal reflections, each one a testament to her thoughtful, devoted, and faith-filled life.
June Joseph’s legacy is one of pure love. She was never known to speak unkindly of anyone and had a remarkable gift for making each person feel like the most important soul in her life. Known for her selflessness, she loved God deeply and carried the light of Christ, which radiated from her in everything she did and said.
June is survived by her 9 children and their spouses, along with her nineteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved sisters, Kathleen Fewster and Helen Smith. She was preceded in death by her eternal companion, John Joseph; her parents, Kathleen and Fred Fountain; her younger brother, John Fountain; her eldest son, Adam Joseph; and her cherished grandson, Ethan Joseph.
