Kami Kastler's Obituary
Kami Kastler was born as the youngest child in her family on July 19, 1980 in Layton, Utah. She passed away at age 44, on March 15, 2025.
Kami has a unique and fun personality. She loved making people smile and enjoyed sharing her unique perspective of the world around her. Being a woman gifted with many talents, she was very intelligent and expressed herself with her art, mathematics, and computer programming. You could always expect a surprise from Kami!
Such surprises might take form in a fun note with "Kami art" on it; usually coupled with color, confetti, and glitter! Kami loved music and liked to dance. Kami "allegedly" had the most impressive music library in all of Fruit Heights. (Allegedly, one of her favorite catch phrases is "allegedly"). Some of Kami's art even moved by itself! If you happen to see a snail with a stylish painted shell, it just might be her work. Her love of color transcended into her clothing (especially her impressive sock collection), make-up, and fashion. Kami's appreciation of color also reflected from her joy of being in nature. She had a great passion for life.
Kami graduated as an honor student at Davis High School in the class of 1998. She participated and placed as a semi-finalist in the NASA/NSTA Space Science Program. Kami ranked in the top ten percent nationally on her SAT college entrance exam in English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science. She attended Weber State College, then transferred to the University of Utah where she earned a Bachelor's degree of Computer Science in 2003.
For a time Kami lived in Portland, Oregon working for Portland General Electric as a computer programmer. She loved the city of Portland with its liveliness and took inspiration from all of the flavor there.
Kami has a compassionate heart. She brought happiness to her entire family who cherished her, and she will be dearly missed.
She was proceeded in death by her Father Gary Kastler, and Brother Chad Kastler. Her surviving family is mother Maysie Swenson, stepfather (Douglas Swenson), sister Sonya (Dave Voracek) and brothers Lane and Cole (Hellen) including her nieces and nephews.
