Karen Louise Urbancic Smith's Obituary
Karen Louise Urbancic (Smith) was born in Martinez, California on March 19, 1957 to Anthony Urbancic and Della Phister. She had three brothers Gordon, Leslie and Michael and a sister Della. She was married to Andrew Smith at 29, and has four children surviving her Stephanie Jackson (Stacy), Chelsea Kauffman (Jacob), Shawn Smith and Heather Smith. One of her bigger dreams was to be a grandmother so she was blessed with two granddaughters (Eurydice and Melody) and a grandson (Thomas) on the way.
She was a very humble soul and enjoyed helping others. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Phoenix in 2012. She had an infectious smile and loved to laugh. She played the piano and had a great talent for singing, which she shared with her children and other people as often as possible. She was always very curious and enjoyed people-watching. She also created daily lists, even with items she knew she would accomplish just to be able to check the items off. The beach was her favorite place because watching the waves was relaxing to her. Her favorite singer was Elvis Presley. Her greatest loves in life were her children and she was very proud of them and would talk about them all the time.
She was a strong woman and was admired and adored by everyone who knew her. However, she fought many battles with illnesses throughout her adult life and lost her last battle with the later stages of cancer on Saturday, December 22, 2018.
She will be greatly missed and remembered by all whose lives she impacted. Her loved ones will be holding a Celebration of Life on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2201 Golf Club Road, Pittsburg, CA 94565 from 6-8pm. If you have any memories you would like to share please send them to Chelsea Kauffman.
