Kari M Thompson's Obituary
Our tender, loving daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend, Kari M. Thompson, passed away on September 8, 2021, due to COVID.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Cheril MacArthur. She is survived by her father, Chris, her brother, Christian (Liliana), sisters Shersti and Rebecca, and niece Valerie.
Kari was a faithful and devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a true follower of Christ and looked forward to returning to Him and our Father in Heaven. She loved her callings in the Church working in the nursery, primary and as a member missionary.
Kari was a lifelong student. She loved to learn and had taken college courses continuously over a 20 year span. She would have several doctorates if her studies were focused in specific areas. However, she did receive her Associates of Business degree from DeAnza College in Cupertino, CA, and a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Music from the University of Utah. She loved playing the piano and learning to play the classic guitar. Kari always said that musicians are the architects of Heaven and we are sure she is busy at work.
Kari was very sensitive, loving and kind to all those she encountered. She was a wonderful listener to all, put people at ease, and could provide thoughtful sensitive advice. She was intelligent, funny, passionate, and generous. She enjoyed politics, cooking and baking, was an avid reader and a master laundress. She gave the very BEST hugs and was always very affectionate. Kari had a wonderful sense of humor, and always made us laugh with her impressions of famous people and each other. Kari was a blast to be around and she lit up whatever room she walked into. She was a best friend to her sisters and brother. Kari treasured and loved her family, extended family, and friends. Though we feel she is gone too soon, we know our Heavenly Father has a plan for all of us and does not make mistakes. We are grateful for her reunion with Him, our Savior, our Mother and loved ones on the other side of the veil.
On Thursday, September 30, 2021 a viewing will be held from 10:00-11:30am and funeral services to follow at noon, all located at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; 7035 S. Nutree Dr., Cottonwood Heights, UT.
Interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Estates Cemetery; 3115 E. 7800 S., Cottonwood Heights, UT.
We would like to thank all the doctors and staff that cared for Kari at the University of Utah Hospital.
