Katherine Grace Greer's Obituary
Katherine “Kathy” Grace Greer, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, in Sandy, Utah, at the age of 80. She was born on April 18, 1945, in Santa Monica, California, to Lawrence and Charlotte Ward.
Kathy married the love of her life, Dixon M. Greer, on June 27, 1964. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on November 5, 1976, reflecting their deep faith and eternal commitment to one another. Kathy and Dixon shared a life centered on family, service, adventure, and devotion.
Kathy was a devoted mother and found her greatest joy in her family. She is survived by her children: Doug Greer (GayLee), Dan Greer (Michelle), and Susy Smith (Jim). She was a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 15 great‑grandchildren, each of whom she loved dearly. Kathy treasured spending time with her grandchildren and great‑grandchildren, delighting in their lives and accomplishments. She is also survived by her sisters, Sherry Selby, Josie (Brad) Ehrlich, and Terry Weathers.
Kathy had many passions and interests. She loved quilting and spent countless hours creating beautiful quilts for family and friends—each one a tangible expression of her love and care. She also enjoyed weekly breakfasts with her dear friends in the “Breakfast Club,” cherishing the fellowship and laughter they shared.
An active and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints, Kathy devoted much of her life to service. She and Dixon served together as missionaries in the Calgary, Alberta Mission, where they found great joy serving on the Blood Indian Reserve and developing deep affection for the people, their culture, and the sense of family they experienced there. Kathy later served a Family History mission at the Church’s Family History Library, helping others discover their ancestors—an extension of her lifelong passion for family history research. Over the years, she faithfully served in many other callings, including in the Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society organizations.
Another great love of Kathy’s life was traveling with Dixon. Together, they enjoyed exploring the country in their truck and trailer, camping and taking in the beauty of the landscapes they encountered along the way. Those journeys created treasured memories that reflected their shared spirit of adventure and companionship.
Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dixon M. Greer; her parents, Lawrence and Charlotte Ward; her sister, Christine; and her brother, Curtis.
Kathy will be remembered for her quiet strength, generous heart, unwavering faith, and deep love for her family. Her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, and great‑grandchildren, who honor her life and example.
