Katherine "Kat" Ruth Kalmar's Obituary
Katherine “Kat” Ruth Kalmar, 40, of Salt Lake City, passed away unexpectedly on February 2, 2026.
Born January 10, 1986, in Murray, Utah, to George and Joette Kalmar, Kathryn spent her life in the Salt Lake Valley.
Katherine was known for her warm heart, infectious smile, and her rare ability to make anyone feel welcome. She never met a stranger--only friends she hadn't yet gotten to know. Her kindness, humor, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
A devoted mother, daughter, sister, and friend, Katherine's greatest joy in life was her family. She was endlessly proud of her son and deeply cherished her relationships with those she loved. She definitely ran on her own time and while always late, she lit up the room when she walked in.
Her life was rich with friendships and meaningful moments. She touched countless lives with her resilience and strength, both quiet and powerful, reflected in the love she gave so freely.
She is survived by her son, Ethan; her parents, George and Joette; her sisters, Denette and Angie; her brothers, Rory, Jason, and Tye; her nephews, Easton and Jack; and her niece, Alex.
She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents and by her beloved sister and “idol,” Jenice.
Services will be held at the LDS chapel at 3495 West 4850 South, Taylorsville, Utah 84129. Viewings will take place Friday evening, February 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service from noon to 1:00 p.m.
Flower can be sent to Premier Funeral Services (67 E 8000 S) or donations can be sent to her GoFundMe: https://www.gofundme.com/f/a-loving-farewell-for-katherine-kalmar
