Kathleen "Diana" Terry Grandy's Obituary
Kathleen Diana Terry Grandy (known as Diana) 73, of Kearns, UT passed away on November 22, 2023. She was surrounded by her adoring husband and children when she peacefully crossed the veil due to complications of a lengthy struggle with aphasia and other health conditions.
Diana was born on December 20, 1949 in Filmore, UT to Harry and Kathleen Terry. Diana was the oldest of six children. She is survived by her husband Curtis of 47 years, 11 months, and 3 days in this life. She is also survived by their four children: Aaron Grandy (Jessi), Jessica Mills (Robert), Esther Grandy, Alicia Jensen (Chris), and seven grandchildren who cherished her dearly. She is also survived by her mother, three sisters, two brothers, all their spouses and dozens of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father.
Diana’s childhood was spent moving around a bit and included stays in Delta, UT, Laguna Beach, CA, Cedar City, UT, Tuba City, AZ, and Blanding, UT.
Diana had a deep and unwavering love for the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, her Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Diana spent 18 months in her early 20s serving a mission for the church in the AZ/Las Vegas area. Soon after her mission, Diana was set up on a blind date by her sister, Melody. It was an instant connection. She and Curt were married a few months later on December 20, 1975, in the St. George, UT temple. It was also her 26th birthday!
Diana and Curt raised their family of four children in Cedar City, UT. Diana took pride and joy in being a full-time mother, wife and homemaker. She created a loving, safe and cozy home for all her family and their friends.
Diana and Curt relocated to the Salt Lake Valley in 2006 where they were able to be closer to their family. Diana delighted in her growing family and posterity. She was thrilled to welcome in new relationships, spouses and of course, grandbabies! Diana treasured spending time with and making memories with her grandchildren any chance possible. She spent countless days playing at parks with them, having mountain picnics, doing arts and crafts, decorating cookies, playing with toys and attending all their sporting events and school programs. The grandchildren will always remember their special sleepovers with Grandma- staying up way too late watching movies, eating popcorn, playing in her toy room, eating homemade buttermilk waffles for breakfast, and sneaking thousands of flips off her guest bed and having wrestling matches in her basement when she wasn’t looking. They all immensely enjoyed bringing laughter, chaos and noise to her home! And she liked it too.
Diana looked forward to endless family parties and celebrations for all the little, big and made-up life events. She made sure all felt loved and were well fed and well hugged! Diana had a quiet and sometimes mischievous giggle and quick-witted sense of humor. Her children and grandchildren had a much louder presence and loved teasing her. Diana was fascinated with the energy and shenanigans of her grandchildren who somehow had a way of constantly trailing her around.
Diana’s true happiness and purpose was found with two main priorities: her family and the peace of the gospel. Despite multiple health problems and other quiet battles over her lifetime, she remained faithful in her faith, temple covenants and temple work until the end. She enormously cherished her family and tribe who loved her fiercely until the end.
Diana’s quiet, gentle and compassionate acts of service blessed the lives of all who were fortunate enough to be graced with her presence. Those who were lucky enough to spend the time getting to know Diana will be forever impacted and blessed with her example of love, grace, forgiveness, kindness and resilience.
Diana’s quiet, sweet and beautiful life will be remembered at a memorial for her immediate family at a time to be announced later.
“But they who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:31
Fly strong, carefree and bright dear Diana/Mom, until we joyously meet again!
