I am sad to hear about Kathy's passing. She brought light every where she went, and my life was brighter and sweeter because of her. I first met Kathy when we were both temple workers at the Provo City Center Temple. Kathy was a sincere delightful instant friend. We enjoyed several lunch times with Kathy and John at their favorite Chinese restaurant, which quickly became our favorite Chinese restaurant! Oh, I just know Heaven is so much livelier and more joyful now that Kathy is there.💖
Kathy lived a full, joyous life.
The Lord blessed her in all her important endeavors including addressing significant trial. She constantly has lived a life of love, happiness, righteousness, high achievement, and good judgment.
Kathy enjoyed a storybook marriage, sealed to a truly great man. Together they loved deeply and raised devoted, gifted children, and later enjoyed the fruits of delightful grandchildren, even great grandchildren. These relationships will strengthen forever.
Kathy is a dedicated sister to our four siblings and me. I’m confident her parents, brother Gerald and sister Janet have already welcomed her with loving enthusiasm.
The sweetest part of this story for Kathy and John is … The Best is Yet to Come!
Your loving brother,
Russ Parker
Kathy is a dear friend and visiting teacher 🤗 from the 32 Ward in Bountiful , Utah. She made the most extraordinary birthday cakes for everyone in our family of nine. She and John were always ready with a helping hand and a friendly smile to assist us in any home project.
Kathy was always eager to share her love and her testimony . I am sending John and all of the family, my love and sympathy . I believe that Kathy’s spirit will be watching over each of you with her love.

I'll never forget visiting John and Kathy in Qingdao while I was living in Tianjin. They were the only family I had there, and they welcomed me with open arms. Kathy took me hiking through the tea fields in the hills around town and we had a marvelous time joking and laughing and hearing stories about her older brother, my Grandpa Gerald, as well as my great grandpa, Clayton Aaron. John and Kathy also showed me the whole city Qingdao and University where they taught and served their students. I know Kathy had an immeasurable impact on the lives she touched in China, mine being just one.
We have many wonderful memories of our dear neighbors Kathy and John Stevens. They were regular walkers - always hand in hand. For years I would see them daily walk past my house. They love the Chinese people and Kathy was so excited when my daughter Bethany was called to serve in the Scotland/Ireland mission mandarin speaking. She invited us over for ice cream and to show us their Chinese Lehi’s vision of the tree of life and their other special Chinese mementos. Bethany married a Chinese man and was so excited to take him to meet Kathy.
Kathy always asked for and gave me hugs. They were kind in sharing their cabin for a fun Relief Society retreat and other times. I’ll never forget their Christmas caroling “We tissue you a Merry Christmas” as they gave us a box of Kleenex.
Kathy and John are wonderful examples of following the Savior. Kathy loved talking about how much she loves John and what a wonderful husband he is. Their love was apparent to all that saw them. She loves all her family and spoke proudly of them. I loved her wit and outgoing personality. It must’ve been such a challenge for all who were close to her to see Alzheimer’s take over her bright, fun personality. Please take comfort in the promises of the resurrection and eternal families. We will see wonderful, sweet, loving Kathy again. We love you John and family and are thinking of you. ❤️
With love, Michele (Allen) Sticklen and family
Kathy was everything that was said in here obituary and so much more.
I had the incredible honor and privilege to have her as my Mother-in-law. She was so incredibly accepting and kind. I could not have asked for a better Mother-in-law.
I will miss her and love her for eternity.
Thank you so much for everything Kathy.
Love,
Lane
