Kathy Gene Solomon Hancey's Obituary
Kathy Gene Solomon Hancey of Taylorsville, Utah, was called home to our Heavenly Father following a swift battle from cancer on August 13th, 2023. She was 66 years old.
Kathy graduated from Granite High School in 1975. She enjoyed being a part of the pep club where she met many of her friends. After high school, she enjoyed a career as an office assistant. Kathy married the love of her life Kenneth Hancey on May 20th 1983. They were married for 40 years, and went on to have 3 children together.
Camping with her family and trips to Disneyland were some of her most cherished memories. She was a devoted Jazz fan, always enjoyed going to concerts and family gatherings, and loved anything pink. Kathy was an amazing, loving mother and we don’t know what we will do without her.
Kathy was preceded in death by parents Lavene and Walter Solomon, brothers Bruce Solomon and Karl Mounteer, sister LouDean Mounteer Jimenez and grandson Joshua Hancey. Survived by husband Kenneth Hancey, children son Tyler Hancey, daughter Melissa Hancey, son Dustin and daughter-in-law Simone Hancey, grandchildren Mariah, Tiffany and Phoenix Hancey, siblings Gordon Solomon, Georga Mounteer, Sherlyn Mounteer Beatty and brother-in-law Lee Beatty as well as many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Hancey family would also like to thank the many doctors, nurses and assistants that helped Kathy in her final days at the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
Funeral services will be held at Premier Funeral Services at 67 E 8000 S, Midvale, UT 84047 on Saturday August 26th, 2023 at 11:00 AM. A viewing will occur the night before on Friday August 25th, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to contribute to the funeral fund you are able to do so here:
