Kelly Dawson Smith's Obituary
Kelly Dawson Smith was unexpectedly called home to heaven
on December 20, 2025, at the age of 64. He was born on
December 2, 1961, in Provo, Utah to Dean Morris Smith and
Gwen Elda Dawson Smith. He married the love of his life Mary
Anne Scott on February 28, 1986, in Provo, Utah. Kelly and
Mary Anne were later sealed together for time and all eternity
in the Mount Timpanogos Temple.
Kelly dedicated his whole career to serving the residents of
Orem City for 35 years. He was deeply respected by his
coworkers, many of whom became lifelong best friends. Known
for his strong work ethic, dependability, and pride in doing a
job well, Kelly was always willing to step up to help others and
ensure each task was completed with integrity.
While Kelly took great pride in being a hard worker, those who
knew him best would describe him first and foremost as a
family man. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his
loved ones and found his greatest joy in being present for his
family. Kelly was the most loyal and selfless husband, dad,
papa, brother, uncle, and friend. He was known for his
unfailing devotion to his boys and his sweetheart. He attended
every one of his sons’ sports games, and even made sure to
attend almost every practice.
Kelly retired to Florida to spend time enjoying life in the sun,
playing at the beach, shark tooth hunting and sharing his
favorite pastime of going to Disney with his beloved
granddaughter. Kelly was a true disciple of Jesus Christ, he took
every opportunity he could to serve his fellow man. He
especially loved going with the Helping Hands group for the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to help serve those
devastated by hurricane damage in Florida.
Kelly is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Mary Anne, two
sons, Tyson, and Kendall (Emilee); granddaughter Kenlee; and
brother Garth (Marci); He was preceded in death by his
parents.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday,
December 30, 2025, at the Orem City Cemetery, 1520 N 800 E,
