Kelly Dawn Knowles Wall's Obituary
Kelly Dawn Knowles Wall passed away at her home in Bluffdale on October 31st, 2022 at the age of 66. She leaves behind her ungovernable family, of whom she was exceptionally proud.
Known in her youth for her prowess on the volleyball court and tenacity on the drill team, Kelly was up for anything. On March 4th, 1977, she took on her biggest challenge when she tamed and married a wild Tasmanian devil, her High School sweetheart Randy in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived, loved, and argued together for 45 years after he promised her a grand fairy tale/adventure life. Little did she know the fairy tale would be more like a pet shop, and for years they managed a horde of children, dogs, cats, and one foster goat that lived on the front porch.
She loved the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a faithful member throughout her life. The knowledge of her eternal family meant everything to her, and she lived her life in a way that reflected her testimony and love of the gospel. She loved to serve in the church, especially with the Cub Scouts, and had a special love for sharing her interests and hobbies with her fellow Relief Society sisters.
Kelly was a master chef, and knew her kitchen better than anyone, including the rest of the family. Only mom could open that cupboard and envision a dinner from the mish-mash of ingredients inside. She loved her “Make-a-Mix” cookbooks, which helped her conjure dozens of meals that became family favorites (like Texas Fudge Cake, Lasagna, Shrimp Dip, Chocolate Chip Cookies, French Bread, Butter Chicken, Scones, and the most delicious of all, her Peanut Butter Honey Butter!). She was a master deal-finder, negotiator, and couponer, and she could get pounds of food for pennies - her most notable achievements include acquiring over $200 of groceries for a grand total of $5, buying a house for $500 at a garage sale, and using 15 gallons of milk a week with the Winder Dairy Daycare Discount Program. While feeding five growing children, Kelly shared with them her taste for the finer things in life. She always had a stash of treats that were never supposed to be found, in hopes of keeping them to herself, from the ravenous heathens.
Kelly was world-renowned for her incredible intelligence, lack of patience, and telling/yelling it like it was. She always told the truth, whether it was accepted or not, and while this rubbed some people the wrong way, it was an inspiration for so many others. Her innate honesty, unwelcome or otherwise, was full of encouragement, comfort, and always wisdom that kept the family in line and gave us something to pass down to our children. She was loud, proud, and unapologetically herself, which meant dodging projectiles when bad news was delivered, and avoiding smothering hugs that always came with good news.
She loved to follow the Real Estate Market, finding bargains for Randy, all the way to the end. As an Entrepreneur Extraordinaire she started a business, Twice Loved Toys, which she treasured and loved. Kelly was an avid collector and refurbisher of all things fun and valued, and hours upon hours were spent at craft shows and antique shops with unwilling kids in tow. She was absolutely dedicated to the discovery and re-homing of her treasures. In fact, she left piles of these behind as a last gift to her loved ones - so, if you’re looking for mountains of toys, jewelry, or enough VHS tapes to start your own Blockbuster, stop by and pay your respects to Twice Loved Toys and take a memento.
She loved family campouts, reading mystery books, canning, collecting anything and everything, and most of all, she loved her family. Kelly lived a fulfilling and loving life and never wasted a moment on anything or anyone that didn’t bring her joy. She was very loved, very loud, and will be missed terribly.
She is survived by her loving husband Randy. Her children: Benjamin (Muffin), Shawn (Odie), Jadie (Lovely), Samuel (Buie), and Scott (Buddha Barracuda). Their spouses: Heather, Calie, Sheri and Alex. Her nine grandchildren: Kadance (Royal), Remie, Jack, Envy, Ryklee, Mac, Randi, Razdyn, and Logan. Her brothers: Frank, Marty, and Kerry.
She was preceded in death by her parents Arlene and Charles, her father-in-law John, her siblings, Jeff and Lori, and her niece Amber.
