Kenneth Bryan Fortner's Obituary
Kenneth Bryan Fortner, 84, passed away peacefully October 21, 2024 surrounded by family. Ken was born in Delta, Utah to Victor Bryan Fortner and Sarah Eleanor Jackson. He married Carolyn Mitchell on June 4, 1968, residing in Sandy, Utah most of their lives. They had two children together Kenneth Fortner and Carry (Fortner) Ady. Ken and Carolyn ran a successful roofing company for many years.
Ken worked hard and played just as hard. Back in the day, Ken climbed the old Widow Maker in the Draper hills on his motorcycle, enjoyed four wheeling in Corner Canyon in the yellow wood paneled Jeep Wagoneer with kids hanging, screaming, laughing out the back windows. It was the 70's after all. Ken loved gardening, his fruit trees, and grapevines for many years. Each year he accepted the challenge to keep the deer out of his garden yet loved having them there for the watching. He spent many weekends at the old Bonneville Raceway supporting his brother-in-law, James Eaton to many victories and road trips to Las Vegas. He enjoyed owning property in Torrey, Utah where years of great family memories were made that included camping, fishing, motorcycle riding, arrowhead hunting, and many meals cooked over the fire.
In his later years, after the daily coffee with Scruff and buddies, you could find him fishing on Strawberry Reservoir with Melvin (his nephew, but more of a brother), golfing with the guys, Wendover for the "Crab Buffet", or searching for treasures at the DI. He accumulated more radios, records, and CD's than you can imagine. He loved music tremendously. He loved playing a game of pool in the basement with his music for hours.
Ken is survived by his wife, Carolyn of 56 years, his children Kenneth (Debra), Carry (Rob) and grandchildren Conner, Mason, Lauren, and Theoria. He will be greatly missed.
