Kenneth Allen Peters' Obituary
Kenneth Allen Peters, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed into the spirit world on May 1, 2024, in South Jordan, Utah at the age of 79. Born on June 9, 1944 to Vance and Jean Peters, in San Mateo, California, he was the second child of three. Ken was the perfect example of devotion and kindness.
Ken is survived by his sister Diane Iannone (Butch), his children Michelle Bailey (Chad), Mike Peters (Elaine), Deanna Ekberg (Erik), Paula Widlund (Mark), Heather Buchta, Vance Viña (Fil), and many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Ken met his sweetheart, Sheryl, on a blind date. They were married on August 18, 1964, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together, they raised their family of six children in both California and Utah. Ken's life was full of love and dedication to his family.
Ken's achievements in sports and academics were notable, including breaking records and winning championships. At Brigham Young University, Ken earned not only a football scholarship but also a deeper connection to his faith, eventually joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In his professional life, Ken excelled, rising from a warehouse worker to Vice President of Sales in a material handling company. His true joy came from the simple pleasures of life—spending time with family, singing accompanied by Sheryl, performing and singing in church roadshows. His greatest joys came from watching his children and grandchildren excel in their athletic endeavors and other activities. This was a source of boundless pride for him.
Ken found solace in nature's embrace, particularly at his cherished fishing spots, Strawberry Reservoir and Rockport. His love for the outdoors intertwined with his passion for travel. Although he enjoyed all the places he traveled, the Caribbean, Hawaii, and Alaska hold special places in his heart.
Despite facing physical challenges from a car accident that left him disabled for the rest of his life, Ken's resilient spirit never wavered! His faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ sustained him through every challenge. His service in various church callings reflected his deep commitment to his beliefs.
We wish to give a special thanks to all the workers at Riverway Assisted Living and Canyon Home Health and Hospice, that helped take care of Ken. He loved getting to know everyone. The residents and workers became his friends, as well as the leaders of the Jordan River Branch.
Ken Peters leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and resilience that will continue to inspire generations to come. Ken's unwavering spirit and infectious joy touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his warm smile, kind heart, and his ability to be friends with anyone. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
