Kenneth Wayne Smith's Obituary
Kenneth Wayne Smith age 59, passed away after a short but very courageous battle with cancer on Monday July 27 2015.
Ken was born on October 29 1955 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Donald Ray and Margaret Evelyn Graves Smith.
He was the youngest of four children. He graduated from East High School in 1974.
Ken met and married the love of his life Laurie June Stephens on February 24 1978.
He spent his career as a truck driver spanning 29 years and logging multi-millions of miles on the road, prior to pursuing his passion of flight. Completing his flight training and pursuing his goal as a light aircraft pilot, as well as creating an ultra-light aircraft. Ken studied and received his Advanced Master Gunsmith license as a certified Gunsmith in June of 2012 were he founded “Gunsmoke Firearms and Ammo” specializing in custom gunsmith, gun repair and ammunition. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, waterskiing and most forms of outdoor recreation. He was a MAJOR fan of the Utah Jazz. Ken was quite a jokester, keeping a straight face while pulling your leg. He had a very dry sense of humor and delighted in seeing how far he could take it.
Ken will be greatly missed by all who knew him and leave a void in our lives.
Family was his greatest treasure.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and Brother Donald Ray Jr. Ken is survived by his wife Laurie, sister’s Lynda Smith, Susan Smith and many extended families.
A Visitation service will be held on Saturday August 1st at 9:30 to 10:30AM at First Christian Reform Church, located on the corner of 900 South and 800 East, Salt Lake City.
Graveside service will follow at 11:30AM at Mountain View Cemetery, located at 3115 East 7800 South, in Cottonwood Heights.
