Kent Maynard's Obituary
In Memoriam
Kent Maynard
7/15/70 – 2/5/24
On the 5th of February, 2024 our beloved Kent died. He was killed as a result of a vehicular/bicycle collision and is survived by our Mom, my Sister and myself- each of us struggling to overcome his loss.
Kent was loved by many, and will be sorely missed. His life has left an indelible imprint on all of us, and we will miss his warm personality forever. Many will remember that Kent was always so happy to see you, with that big, handsome smile- despite whatever pain or hardships he may have been wrestling with himself. In the last several years of his life he had significant challenges- yet always approached them with resolve and dignity. We want to say thanks to everyone who has graciously helped him throughout his journey.
His hands were strong and often rough from his daily battle, yet healing in their touch- and warm and sincere in every handshake. Charming and engaging, he had the gift of healing the most troublesome of aches. An early gift of Grey’s Anatomy sparked an interest that was to guide him in becoming a true body mechanic. As such, he excelled in the study and knowledge of nerves and human anatomy and a healing art that rewarded so many. I remain very proud of him. A musician of the cello, guitar and bass, he loved and appreciated a broad spectrum of music. We’ll all miss his humorous wit! His example of indefatigable, determined optimism and the ability to keep his beautiful chin up will always inspire us. He deserves the utmost respect for this. Perseverance was a core value for him.
Thanks to everyone for your loving, supportive words, calls and messages to his surviving family members. They will be, as Kent will be, always remembered.
Goodbye brother. We always have, and always will love you.
“A whole Gothic world had come to grief... there was now no armour glittering through the forest glades,
no embroidered feet on the green sward; the cream and dappled unicorns had fled...”
~ Evelyn Waugh, A Handful of Dust, 1934
