Kerry J Whittaker, 70, of West Jordan, took his last ride into the sunset on April 23, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Kerry was born to Bob and Billie Whittaker on December 8, 1954, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended Cyprus High School, where he met his sweetheart, Christy. Their love for one another is incredibly profound, and after more than 51 years together, Christy will deeply miss her best friend and life partner.
He graduated from trade school as the best plumber in the world, as described by his adoring family. He ran a successful plumbing business for over 25 years alongside his devoted son, Chad. They shared a special bond, being work companions and best friends. He dedicated his entire life to his family, tirelessly working to ensure they had a good life. The incredible life he created for them is a testament to his unwavering love and dedication, and his family will always cherish and be grateful for the sacrifices he made.
Born a natural cowboy, he spent his early years riding horses with his family and friends. He was a member of the Magna Mountain Riders, where he participated in team roping. He had a deep passion for riding horses and especially relished the challenge of breaking colts. Known for his fearless spirit, he would take on the most challenging horses he could find.
He had a deep passion for hunting, fishing, camping, and riding four-wheelers, finding joy in the beauty of the outdoors. He was a member of the Harrison Duck Club and United Sportsman. Family trips dedicated to hunting and camping held a special place in his heart, as he cherished the memories created during those times. In his later years, he enjoyed visiting his second home in Bedrock, Colorado, where he spent his time watching wildlife and enjoying the scenery with his family.
His greatest joy in life was his children and grandchildren. He truly was the coolest grandpa on the planet. He spent many summers taking the grandkids on memorable camping trips, where he lovingly passed on his passion for the outdoors. Those moments brought so much happiness to their lives and created cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
Kerry is preceded in death by his father Bob, mother Billie, sister Sandy, brother Jody, brother-in-law Dennis, grandparents, and many in-laws whom he loved dearly.
Kerry is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Christy, and his three beloved children: Chad, Brooke (Daniel) Gill, and Marcie (Joe) Bird. He took immense joy in being a grandfather to six wonderful grandchildren- Colten (Madee), Wyatt, Jaiden (Eli), Bailey, Gauge, and Carley. His heart expanded even further with the addition of four step-grandchildren, Scott, Alene, Mike (Jacquelyn), and MJ. He was overjoyed to welcome his first great-grandchild, Ginny, whom he adored. He also held a special place in his heart for his many nieces and nephews, whom he loved.
The family of Kerry would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Mike Hawkins for being not only a wonderful brother-in-law but also an amazing best friend who always cared for him.
Private family services to honor his beautiful life will be held at a later date.
