Kerstin Löwenmark Baumann's Obituary
Kerstin Löwenmark Baumann, 80, of Murray, Utah passed away on Oct. 18, 2024 at home with her daughter and grandson by her side. Though she fought valiantly against breast cancer, she ultimately lost the battle. After being diagnosed in 2021, Kerstin remained strong and steadfast during her treatments of chemotherapy, radiation and surgeries. Positive by nature, cancer did not diminish her light or smile. After winning the first battle, Kerstin entered remission until we learned the cancer had metastasized in August 2024.
Born May 15, 1944 in Östersund, Sweden to Nils and Sylvia Löwenmark. She, her parents and her brother Ron moved to the U.S. in 1953. They moved many times; living in Utah, California, Washington and back and forth to Sweden. In 1965 they settled in Utah, where she remained. Kerstin loved her homeland of Sweden and traveled there countless times to visit family and friends.
Kerstin graduated from Murray High School in 1963. She married Albert Baumann in 1966. They had two daughters; Heidi and Julie. After 40 years together, they divorced amicably.
Kerstin loved people. With her beautiful smile and desire to make others feel welcome, she excelled as a server at Le Parisien Restaurant for 27 years. Later in life, wanting to reconnect with serving others, Kerstin enjoyed giving out samples at Costco. She was able to connect to the many people she knew in her community and her work brought her much joy.
Kerstin’s love extended to all animals. She was an excellent horsewoman and always had a beloved horse to fuss over for most of her life. She spent many years being the best “Horse Show Mom” to Julie. Kerstin also had many dogs and cats throughout her life that she loved dearly. She loved nature and found peace among forests and mountains. Kerstin enjoyed being outside, walking her dog and beautifying her yard.
She is survived by her daughter; Julie Dillman, her grandson; Talon Dillman, sister-in-law, niece and nephew and many cousins. With most family living in Sweden, Germany and Norway. Kerstin is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Heidi, former husband Albert and her brother Ron Löwenmark.
