Kevin Ray Sunday's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Kevin Ray Sunday
An amazing Husband, brother, son, father and grandfather. Kevin had a heart of gold. Filled with limitless amounts of love that spilled into the world around him touching every soul that walked into his life. Born to a loving family on May 26, 1959 Kevin did not always have the easiest start. At 6 months old he became sick The Red Measles which also led to spinal meningitis. The doctors gave little hope for a recovery and said that even if he survived, he would most likely be a vegetable or mental disable. His parents had him blessed by the elders of the Church of Jesus Christ. A miracle happened that night. And That miracle was the life of Kevin Sunday. Not only did he survive but he became a very gifted and talented beautiful human being.
These gifts where made evident by the time Kevin was only 5 Years old. His mom was taking piano lessons and Kevin would sit under the piano. He would watch his mom's hands and listen to the music. One day while Donna was in the kitchen, she heard beautiful music coming from the living room. She thought the piano teacher had come back but was shocked when she enters the room and saw Kevin under the piano playing the song she had been learning perfectly. A song that she could not even play, so difficult, but Kevin could do it without even looking at the keys. Kevin was an amazing musician.
Kevin Loved his grandmother. In his early years in education, he decided to make this love evident. Yes, Kevin ran away from school. In kindergarten or first grade Kevin decide he did not want to be around mean people. He wanted to be with someone he loved and someone he knew loved him. So off he went on his bike. Paddling as fast as his little legs could go. This trip meant a bike ride from Orem to Provo. Stopping by his aunt's house but finding that she was not home he continued on to grandma's house. He crossed the highway and made it to Provo but a member of his ward saw him and helped him get home. Kevin was fearless and brave.
Kevin had a heart of gold; this was evident in the generosity that he showed to veterans. Kevin always made it a point to help out at the Disable Americans Veterans fishing party at Southfork Park. He would help net off the stream so when they released the fish the veterans would all be able to catch one. He always made sure every veteran caught a fish. If they could not catch a fish, he would net one for them. He also helped with making sure the BBQ went smoothly and everyone got to eat.
Kevin loved to horse around with his friends. He stayed young at heart. He loved his C.b. club, going to coffee and playing in the band. Kevin was a drummer. Like his father before him and his father's father before him. To be continued by his loving son Kody. Music will never die in this long line of Drummers.
Kevin loved his children. He wanted to always build wonderful memories with them. Through music, fishing, camping and even Donald duck. He resided with Stephanie in Salina with the love of his life and fully enjoyed living there. He enjoyed working on the house and building memories there. He will be greatly missed. Forever in our hearts.
Survived by his loving Wife Stephanie Sunday and his children Misty, Travis, Fawn, Jarad and Kody Ray Sunday, Tausha Mena, Tasha Mendelkow, Brandy Mendelkow, Landon Bennett, Stevagio A’Ray Sunday, his Mother Donna Sunday, Brothers Dennis and Allen, And sisters Dianne, Collette and Laurie Sunday and seven beautiful grandchildren.
