October 15, 1932-July 30, 2016
Gitta, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother returned home to our Heavenly Father July 30, 2016 at home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Gitta was born in Augsburg, Germany on October 15, 1932, the daughter of Benno Stemmer and Kreszenz Wiedemann. She grew up in Germany and was a witness to World War II.
She was briefly married to Thaddeus Brenner. From that union two children were born.
On Easter Saturday 1956, Gitta met the love of her life, Carl George Cook, who was serving in the 11th ABN Division. Carl and Gitta were married November 30, 1957 in Munich Germany. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple in July 1972. After 20 years of military service they made their home in Pierce, Idaho. In 2012, they moved to Roy, Utah to live with their daughter.
Gitta was well known for her cooking skills. She would put on fabulous dinner parties for family and those she invited into her circle of love and friendship. She showed compassion to those that did not have much. She would take others under her wing and care for them. Gitta has many friends, family, and loved ones who loved her. She will be greatly missed by all those individuals that she deeply touched.
