Kristy Ball

We had to say goodbye to our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, mother-in-law, and loyal friend, Kristy Ball on 9/1/2023. We are all so lucky to have had her in our lives. Kristy was born on February 1, 1947, in Layton, Utah, to Jack and Dolly Ball. She had three sisters, Lori, Denise, and Jan Kay, and one brother, Denny. Jan and Denny preceded her in death. She was a wonderful, devoted mother to her children, Angie and Cole Donehoo. Kristy found her faithful, life-long companion when she met Rick Morley. They were married in 1994. They lived in Chelsea, Alabama, followed by Tracy, California, and Concord, California. During this time Kristy started working for Merritt Community Capital where she remained employed until her retirement. Kristy enjoyed moving to different places with Rick, and they found beauty in each place they lived. They eventually moved to Layton in 2005, where they enjoyed their lovely home and garden for many years. Rick was a kind and loyal husband, and provided such tender loving care to Kristy while she was fighting her hardest health battle against cancer this year. Kristy was a loving grandmother to Autumn and they had a very strong, deep connection. They lived just a few blocks from each other for most of Autumn's younger years, and Autumn spent lots of time with "Granny.” They enjoyed going on many trips and adventures together. Kristy was a very important part of Autumn's life, and she will be missed every day. Not long after she graduated from Davis High in 1965, Kristy worked at Mountain Bell in Ogden, Utah, for many years, making life-long friends. They continued to have lunch together once a month ever since, often at Kristy's house because she was a gourmet cook who loved to entertain. Kristy was a volunteer member of Utah Pet Partners along with her beloved Goldendoodle, Darby. She enjoyed taking him to local events and hospitals so he could brighten the day of patients and hospital staff alike. Kristy loved studying genealogy, and she recently compiled an extensive volume of family history spanning many generations. She worked for many long hours on this labor of love. Kristy was many things: She was smart, wicked funny, and kind to all who knew her. She was a classy, stylish dresser that could pull off wearing a hat like nobody else, and she loved turquoise jewelry. She was a gracious and generous host, a fabulous cook, and a gifted gardener, growing the best heirloom tomatoes. She was a talented artist working in charcoal, pen and ink, and watercolor. Kristy loved travel and enjoyed going on trips to both big cities and the great outdoors. She was a compassionate vegetarian and pescatarian, and a student of meditation and Buddhism. She truly perfected the art of Southwestern Chic interior design, and her spacious, beautifully-appointed home was the ideal "party house" for all of our holidays, celebrations, and birthdays with extended family including in-laws who love her so much, and will deeply miss her and her bright spirit. Kristy, we love you and will miss you always. Family and friends will hold a Celebration of Life for Kristy at a later date.
