LaMar Eugene Hill's Obituary
LaMar Eugene Hill, 78, father, uncle, and brother, died at his home in West Haven, UT, on July 5, 2026. He was born on January 19, 1948, to John Richard Hill and Mary Wiseman Hill. He married Jacqueline (Jackie) Hileman on June 7, 1972, in Ogden. Together they had a son, Kelly. They later divorced.
LaMar attended Weber State College for three years, majoring in Electrical Engineering. He also completed a one-year technology program in which he obtained his General FCC Radio License. Additionally, he completed eight Union Pacific Signalman and Advanced Signalman Training programs and one program on Computers and Programming.
His education formed the basis for his military and civilian career path. He served active duty in the United States Army for two years, from 1968-69, as a Personnel Management Specialist, including one year in Vietnam. Upon his honorable release from active duty, he served in the Army National Guard at the Ogden Depot. He left his military service to join the Union Pacific Railroad, where he spent 18 years in various roles related to his expertise in electrical engineering and signaling.
After retiring from the railroad, he worked for General Electric until his retirement, then returned to Utah to spend time with his son Kelly. Kelly was the light of his life, and LaMar loved having him visit every weekend. He also enjoyed hanging out with family and friends and “shooting the breeze.”
Lamar is preceded in death by his father, Richard J. Hill, and his mother, Mary W. Hill. His brother Richard Hill, John Hill, his sisters-in-law Sharon, and Kathy. He is survived by his brother, Earnest Hill, Syracuse; Donald (Kathy) Hill, Ogden; Ronald (Olivia) Hill, Montana; and Michael (Elizabeth) Hill, Ogden, and fifteen nieces and nephews.
