LaRae Johnson Lovell's Obituary
She was born to Willard M. Johnson and Doris Roberts Johnson, and was raised in Lindon Utah, until she married Blaine Pendley, at which time they moved to Florida. They had three children together, Terri Jo, Glenda and Troy, and later divorced.
Upon returning to Utah with her three young children, she met and married Raymond E. Lovell. Raymond accepted her first three children as his own, and gave them his name. They later had two more children, RaNae and Kelley. They resided in Orem for 16 years until they divorced.
Mom spent the rest of her life in a traveling and adventurous mode, enjoying camping, fishing, bowling, crafting gifts for loved ones, sewing for charities and showing love and compassion to her pets and everyone else she met along the way. She worked many years managing restaurants. She was brave enough to return to college in her mid 50’s and earned her nursing degree to work in geriatrics, which she truly enjoyed. Her adventures also included living in Arizona, Texas, Iowa, Oregon and back home to Utah for her final adventure. Many thanks to the staff at Heritage Care Center, and the friends that she met there for their compassion, caring and love during the last year of her life. Mom suffered from many ailments over the last twenty years of her life, including her most recent diagnosis of breast cancer for which it seems that one round of chemotherapy was more than her tired body could handle. Her attitude thru all of her heath trials was that obstacles in the path of life are not obstacles, they ARE the path. She died peacefully, surrounded by loving friends and family, and she is now free from her failing body, healthy and whole and per her words “skinny again” to enjoy a happy reunion with all that have preceded her in death. She was an active member of the LDS church, and her eternal reward is assured.
She was preceded in death by her parents Willard and Doris Johnson, her brother Darrel (Lahoma) Johnson, her sister DeVona Johnson and the father of her children, Raymond Lovell. She is survived by her brothers Robert (Noreen) Johnson, Lloyd (Corby – deceased) Johnson, and sisters Willa Mae (Joe) Overson and Beverly (Ken) Merrick. She is also survived by all five of her children, Terri Jo (Bart) Middleton, Glenda (Don) Moore, Troy Lovell, RaNae (Lance – ex-husband) Scott and Kelley (Chet) Harbert, 12 grand children and 18 great grand children.
The family is honoring her final wishes to be cremated and placed with her sister DeVona. There will be no traditional services at this time. Instead, per her wishes, we will wait until her birthday in June of 2015 to celebrate her life with all who wish to attend. Details of this event will be shared at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gladly accepted to help cover the cost of her cremation.
