Larry Dean Asbra Sr's Obituary
Larry Dean Asbra Sr, 77, of Roy, Ut, passed away December 24, 2021, after a long-fought battle with his health. He was the second son and 5th out of 6 children of Emmett and Pearline Asbra. He was born on November 8, 1944 in Sioux City, Iowa.
He attended Northview High School in West Covina, Ca., where he played on the varsity baseball team throughout high school. He was also a member of the school counsel and in pep club. His first job was working with his dad pouring concrete projects and pool decks. Larry worked for 30 years in California as an ironworker and welder. He became a foreman for the last 10 years there. In 1993 he and his whole family moved to Northern Utah, and he continued to work as an ironworker for a time. After he retired, he worked for Newark Paper Co. And Discount tire as a delivery driver until he had a stroke in 2003 which forced him to retire for good.
Larry loved baseball and coached his son’s teams for many years. He was a die-hard Utah Jazz fan and enjoyed going to their games whenever he could. He was a league bowler and even bowled a perfect 300 game. The best thing about bowling is that is how me met the love of his life, Fay. They were bowling in the same league when they met. He fell head over heels in love with her and never stopped.
He is survived by Fay, his wife of 43 years, his son: Larry Asbra Jr (Michelle Asbra), daughters: Kathy Bell (Danny Bell), Kelli Willis and Crystal Carroll (Randy Carroll), 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 2 sisters. He is preceded in death by his parents 2 sisters and a brother.
Larry was a wonderful man. He was good, kind, giving, thoughtful, stubborn and incredibly funny. He was the best husband, dad and grandpa a family could wish for. He is missed every day.
