Larry Irwin Kellogg's Obituary
Larry Irwin Kellogg, 49, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 7, 2024. Larry's life was a testament to resilience and the bonds of family. His quiet, confident, loving demeanor will be missed.
Larry was born on November 19, 1974, in Montrose, Colorado. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Orem, Utah. Despite challenges, Larry found strength in the love of his siblings with whom he shared many adventures.
His education journeyed through Geneva Elementary, Orem Jr. High, and Mountain View High School. After graduation, Larry embarked on an LDS mission to the Czech Republic and later pursued a degree in computer programming at Utah Valley University.
In adulthood, Larry served briefly in the U.S. Army. He then married Heather Frost on February 23, 2006 in the LDS Mount Timpanogos Temple, and together they joyously welcomed two beloved daughters. Their lives were marked by both joy and sorrow, as Heather fought an epic battle with a rare form of brain cancer and later passed away in 2019.
Following his wife’s death, Larry had his own health struggles, narrowly surviving a major heart attack. Larry chose not to live like he was afraid and pursued his dream of flying and in doing so made many lasting memories with his family. Larry's greatest joy was his family taking his daughters on numerous trips including to California, Hawaii, and Texas. In his last weeks, he took several family members flying including his parents, daughters, nieces, nephews, and siblings. Tragically, during a solo flight, it is suspected Larry suffered a heart attack and passed away.
His sudden passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of his surviving family: daughters Elizabeth and Hazel; parents Steven and Ingeborg Kellogg; in laws David and Elizabeth Frost; siblings Stephanie (Rick) Johnson, Melanie (Todd) Chidester, Bethanie (Ryan) Edwards, Natalie (Markus) Allen, Kimberlie Kellogg, Tiffanie (Scot) Fuller, Nathan (Tauna) Kellogg, Scott Kellogg, John (Robyn) Kellogg, Chris (Stacy) Kellogg, Cory Kellogg, Richard Kellogg; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Larry was preceded in death by his wife Heather, two sets of grand-parents, and a younger brother Eric.
Larry will be remembered for his unwavering strength, his deep love for his family, and the enduring impact he had on all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A memorial service honoring Larry's life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 11am, at the East Chapel in Springville, Utah (878 West Center Street, Springville, Utah) followed by graveside services at American Fork Cemetery.
