Larry Lamar Walters
May 20, 2024
Larry L. Walters, beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather passed away in Murray, Utah
on May 20, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born September 15,1952 in Provo, Utah to Lamar and Idona Walters. He was the oldest of 3
children. He married Laura Eckhardt January 2, 1987, and became a father to her 3 children
Christi, Michelle and Cody, as well as Christa, a granddaughter that he raised. He loved them all
as if they were his own. He was extremely proud of his entire family.
Larry loved the outdoors. He spent many years camping, hunting and running his sand rail at the
sand dunes. He was an exceptional welder and could build anything he put his mind to, from
shooting targets for his grandkids to shoot at while camping, window well covers and Dutch oven
pits. He was caring, loving and had a great sense of humor. We loved the stories he told. He
played guitar in a band. He traveled across the country in his motorhome to Florida multiple
times. In the winter he would tow his best friend behind his truck on skis. He had a thing for blue
Dodge Trucks and his story of buying his very first brand new one is a favorite.
Larry worked for AG Truck Equipment for many years. He left to work for Salt Lake City on the
snowplows at the airport. He also worked for the Water Department where he used his welding
skills almost daily. When his body could no longer meet the physical demands of the job he
retired and went to deliver parts to keep himself busy.
He is survived by his wife Laura, his siblings Kellie (Sherman) Green, Tracy
Walters, his children Christi (Ken) Wahnschaffe, Cody (Amy) Eckhardt, Christa Eckhardt, along
with 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents Lamar and Idona, along with his daughter Michelle.
A celebration of life open house will be held June 8, 2024, from 6pm-8pm at the home of Cody
Eckhardt, 11648 S Union Station Circle (3510 W), South Jordan, UT 84095
