Laura Rae de Hermida's Obituary
Laura Rae de Hermida passed away on January, 15, 2024 after a long battle with mental illness and Parkinson’s disease. Laura was receiving care from PrimRose Hospice during the final weeks of her life and we are beyond grateful for all of the kindness and support they provided to her and our family during that time.
Laura was born on July 25th, 1956 to Raymond Cleatus Allred World War ll US Navy Veteran and Dorothy Deane (Pipkin) Allred in Ogden, Utah. She attended Ogden High School and spent some years working at Hill Air Force Base before becoming a full time homemaker. She was married for a short time to Francis (Frank) Sheeley who remained a good friend and member of the family long after their divorce.
In 1985 she gave birth to her first daughter Gina who she placed for adoption to the wonderful Terry (Leif) and Genie Erickson who provided her a beautiful loving home and two siblings Tory and Tia Erickson. Gina and Laura were reintroduced in 2021.
Free spirit is the way those who knew her would describe her. She was an old hippy and an absolute music fanatic who would sing and dance whenever she had the chance. Janis Joplin, Pink Floyd and The Doors were just a few of her favorites. She had a very beautiful, yet tormented mind. I believe everyone who encountered her left with a memory.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Dorothy, Frank Sheeley and Sister Kay Eileen Allred.
She was a proud grandmother to Ellie and Aidan Pacheco and is survived by her devoted husband of 33 years Eugene (Kip) de Hermida, her brother Ken Allred, and her 3 daughters Gina Erickson, Erica de Hermida, and Emily de Hermida
Small Graveside service will be on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 12:00 pm at Myers Evergreen Memorial Park.
