Laura Leigh Moore's Obituary
Laura Leigh Moore, daughter of Vernon Doak Moore Jr. and Lanette Thennes, passed away very peacefully from organ failure Thursday, October 21, 2021 in Provo, Utah.
Laura wrote: “On the morning of November 28, 1958, I boarded a Greyhound bus with $200, two suitcases and headed for Utah [from Iowa]. I was not a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints but knew of the Church because of the Osmonds. I was baptized into the church less than a month after arriving in Utah, but it would take me another 35 years to understand the gospel, my mission and why my family was as we were.”
Laura longed for a loving, nurturing eternal family. Laura became very skilled at family history research and felt deeply that her mission was to gather her family and bring them home to our Heavenly Father.
Laura had a very difficult life but overcame so much. Laura found great joy in service, dear friends, the Osmonds, country music, her Opryland Family, BYU sports, Disney – especially all things Goofy, computer skills, etc. She was the author of the book, “Friends…Lessons of Life,” that told many of her stories. Laura had a very grateful heart. Her tag line was always a quote from Gladys Knight: “Before you can change your life you need to change your heart and mind.” We will miss Laura but look forward to an eternal association.
Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, CNA’s and staff who cared for Laura at Provo Rehab and Nursing Center and Utah Valley Hospital.
