Laverne Margaret Stireman McRae's Obituary
Beloved Mother
Laverne Margaret McRae passed away peacefully on December 17, 2013, surrounded by the people she loved. She was born on October 24, 1925, in Superior Wisconsin and later followed her siblings to Utah, where she spent most of her life. Laverne lived her life with passion, energy and enthusiasm. She inspired her neighbors with her garden, a paradise of plants and flowers. The dolls, crafts, and Christmas ornaments she made fill the homes of her friends and family. Her apple pies were legendary. But of the fun and joy she found in her life, her greatest passion was her family. She devoted the majority of her time and energy to their well-being, was their strongest advocate, and always the most excited about their accomplishments. And they were her greatest accomplishment, she insisted until the end. About her obituary, she always wanted it to simply say that “she came, and then she left.” So she did, but touched and inspired countless along the way. Laverne was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. McRae, her parents, and nine siblings. Her surviving family includes her brothers Loren Roger Stireman and William Stireman, her three children Susan Johnston (Clark), Cathy Bissett, and Joseph McRae (CeLisa), eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Laverne’s family thanks the staff of Holladay Healthcare for their loving care and kindness. Family and friends, please gather for a celebration honoring Laverne’s life at the home of Clark and Susan Johnston at 5753 South Ridge Creek Road in Murray on Sunday, December 22 between the hours of 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
