Lawrence Fredrick Gardanier's Obituary
Lawrence F. Gardanier died at home in Tempe, Arizona, on November 22, 2024, at the age of 81 after a courageous 2-month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on April 30, 1943, in LaJolla, California, to Frank and Florence Fuller Gardanier. They lived in California and Colorado before the family returned to Phoenix when he was 5 years old. He graduated from Central High School and the University of Arizona with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. He married Irene Simonson in the Mesa Arizona Temple in 1964, and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They lived in Maryland and California after his graduation before returning to Arizona and settling in Tempe where they raised their 4 sons.
He is survived by his wife Irene and their children: Eric (Tori) of Springville, Utah; Brian (Shelly) of Casa Grande; Steve (Laura) of Highland, Utah, & Milan, Italy; and Jeff (Tiffany) of Missoula, Montana.
He has 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers: Sutter of Laguna Beach, California; Frank (Elizabeth) of Fresno, California; Paul (Wallay) of Palm Springs, California; and a sister Ann (Jeff) Alexander of Provo, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 grandchild.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having held many positions, including many years working with the youth in Scouting and as Bishop of the Tempe 9th Ward.
Funeral services are scheduled for December 7, 2024, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Evergreen Building, 700 S. Evergreen, Tempe, at 10 am with a viewing 1 hour prior at 9 am. Burial will be in Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery in Phoenix.
Flowers may be sent to the church an hour prior to the viewing at 8 am. on December 7, 2024. Evergreen Building 700 S. Evergreen, Tempe, AZ
