LeLou "Lee" Jane Smedley Parker's Obituary
LeLou “Lee” Jane Smedley Parker passed away October 19, 2022.
She was born on February 6, 1941 in Evanston, Wyoming to Delbert W. Smedley and Ardella M. Smedley.
At a young age she played her flute in the Sugarhouse band. Her performing continued into the Irving Jr. High Orchestra and a Flute Trio. She played in the Highland High Band and then her favorite, the University of Utah Marching Band. She also played her marimba for many years at funerals, weddings, and mission farewells.
Lee was a member of the first graduating class of Highland High in 1959. She received an Associate’s Degree in Library Science from the University of Utah in 1970.
Her love of libraries and learning about Utah lasted a lifetime. She would share facts and trivia about the counties and cities with everyone.
Lee had a sense of humor that kept everyone laughing. She compiled a few joke books that she shared with her family.
Lee had a talent of remembering birthdays, anniversaries and dates of random events. For example, Ronald Reagan’s birthday was also Feb. 6th.
Lee was married in the Logan Temple on July 27, 1962 to George Richard “Dick” Parker. They had 2 daughters, Heidi and Wendy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Cheryl Smedley, and husband, Dick. She is survived by her brothers and sister Craig (Karol) Smedley, Roger (Janet) Smedley, Julie (Dale) Alsop, daughters Heidi Parker, Wendy (Todd) Child, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2022, 10 am at the SLC Cemetery.
